Dr. M. K. Jayaraj

Chief Advisor

Dr. M. K. Jayaraj is an accomplished academic leader and distinguished materials scientist with over three decades of experience in teaching, research, and university administration. He served as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calicut—Kerala’s largest university—where he spearheaded major advancements in academic quality, infrastructure development, and administrative modernization. Prior to this, he held several key positions at the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), including Syndicate Member, Head of the Department of Physics, and Planning Director.

Dr. Jayaraj has a strong international research presence. He completed postdoctoral research at the Physical Research Laboratory (Ahmedabad) and the Regional Research Laboratory (Thiruvananthapuram). He has served as a Visiting Fellow under the European Commission at the University of Pierre and Marie Curie (France), a Visiting Scientist at ENEA (Italy) and the University of Oregon (USA), and a Visiting Professor at the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan).

A leading expert in materials science and optoelectronic device engineering, Dr. Jayaraj has made notable contributions to transparent conducting oxides, Surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy, low-dimensional materials, memristive devices, and neuromorphic optoelectronic systems. He has published over 250 research articles in reputed journals, edited and authored six books, and successfully supervised 40 PhD scholars, establishing himself as a highly respected researcher and mentor in his field.
